Practicing proper hygiene and food safety techniques will help prevent foodborne illness.
Sight is usually the best way to tell if your frozen fruit has gone bad.
Some common traits of bad frozen fruit are a dull color and a frostbitten look. There will be a lot of very white colored ice if the fruit has been around too long. You could still use the fruit, by putting it in a strainer and running cold water over it, but if there is too much white ice then the fruit will probably taste a little bit worse than nothing (bland).
Also beware as to whether the ice is on the fruit (OK) or the fruit has been frostbitten. If freezer-burned, the actual fruit will appear white and have a slightly different texture.
There are, of course, certain health risks associated with spoiled foods so always remember to practice food safety and enjoy your foods before their shelf life has expired!
